Schedule Posted

As promised, I posted the schedule - I did this as a "page" on the right side of this webpage, so it will be ready access to check up on how I'm doing. When it gets too far off, I do plan to update it - but probably not until (unless??) it is off by more than two weeks...

Is anybody reading this??

Permits Arrive!

Well, since I started this goofy blog only yesterday, I may as well stick to it at least for now and keep updating... Big news today was the building permits arrived. Work will be legal as far as the county is concerned!

We have three permits (B, E, P), and will need inspections of insulation, electrical, plumbing, and "final" when all is done. The permits expire on Oct 24, 2010; I really, really don't want to have to renew them... which leads me to schedule...

I'm working through the schedule one last time tonight too, and may get it posted on this page tonight, but will probably save it for tomorrow so I'll have something new to post... then we can all track how badly I'm doing against the plan...

What to do...

Well, the point of this blog is to inform family and friends: what are we going to do?

There's no assistance available today from any of the likely sources (insurance, builder, government), the health risks are unknown, and the property value is shot. Can't afford to live elsewhere and pay this mortgage, can't afford to walk away - it needs to get fixed - so we're going to fix it ourselves.

My wife and kids (ages 1 and 3) are moving in with family, and I will live in the house and conduct repairs myself. I have an actual job, so the repairs will be 5pm - 10pm weekdays, and 10 hours per day Saturday and Sunday. This should give me a 40 hour work week, on top of my actual 40+ hour work week.

Move out is May 8th. Company travel afterward, then removal of fixtures begins. Stay tuned!
